Stonebridge will only collect or hold any personal information through your use of this Site where you complete the appropriate request box to request more information about us or our products or services, or you opt to complete any of the quote pages on the Site.
Stonebridge is committed to complying with the requirements of UK and EU Data Protection legislation. This means that in the provision of our services, appropriate information is processed and kept securely in strict accordance with such requirements.
Stonebridge is part of the international AEGON Group and uses its group facilities to assist in providing these services. Stonebridge may share your details with other carefully selected organisations in the US and worldwide solely for the purposes of servicing and administering your insurance, conducting analysis and market research, and meeting legal / regulatory requirements. By submitting your personal data you agree to this transfer.
Dealing with other people
At your convenience Stonebridge may accept instructions from you or at your request from your spouse or partner on the management of your policy. If you would like to nominate anyone else to deal with your policy for you on a regular basis, please let Stonebridge know. In very exceptional circumstances we may also deal with other people who call on your behalf without such nomination (e.g. where you are incapacitated in some way).
Stonebridge may record telephone calls for training and quality checking purposes.
Stonebridge, as operator of this Site, takes security of your data very seriously. Whenever you fill in your details on one of the quote pages, it is automatically protected using Secure Socket Layer (SSL) between your computer and ours. SSL works in the following ways:
- it greatly reduces the risk of impersonation - you can tell that you are using a genuine SSL site by the padlock symbol at the bottom of the screen. Clicking on the padlock will reveal our Registration Certificate that is issued by Comodo, a leading Internet security company.
- it encrypts data - as soon as your computer has recognised our computer they encrypt all information that is passed between them. Data encryption means that no-one else can read or change your information as it travels over the Internet.
- it prevents scrambling - SSL uses a Message Authentication Code (MAC) to prevent anyone tampering with our Internet Site. Your computer will always check this code before it takes a message from us. This means that if anyone tried to interfere with a message, your computer would not recognise the code and would alert you.
Although Stonebridge shall take measures to protect the security of your data we cannot guarantee the security of your personal information when processed through the Site and the Internet. Furthermore we cannot accept liability for loss or theft of your personal details when processed on the Site and, or through the Internet.
Access to Information
The Data Protection Act 1998 gives you the right to access information held about you. Your right of access can be exercised in accordance with the Act. Any access request may be subject to a small fee to meet our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.
